          CONSTRUCTION OF WASTE SITE – BASRAH PROVINCE

 

CONSTRUCTION OF DEFINED WASTE DISPOSAL SITE.

In order to deal with the rubbish arising from the city of Basrah, a designated disposal

site is required to contain the deposited waste.

A 300 metre by 300metre three sided square earth wall site is required to be constructed

between the Shatt Al Basrah Canal and the airport track next to the Mohammed Al-Kasem

Bridge on the Basrah to Shiabah petrochemical plant road (see figure 1). Exact

positioning of site within this general location shall be agreed between successful

contractor and the CPA.

The site requires the construction of three earth walls 2.5 metres high, 300 metre long as

illustrated in figure 2 and can be created from the surrounding soil. Existing waste at the

site shall need to be moved in order for the construction of the site to take place. Earth

walls should be of a sufficient strength so as to allow waste to be piled up and compacted

to a height of 2 metres within the designated area. A 500 metre length of track 8 metres

wide is required to be constructed from the Shaibah road to run along the open side of the

bunded area. This access road should be constructed from compacted rubble aggregate

from demolition waste or such like in order to allow for truck access to the site.
